College Student

Looking for a Defense Lawyer?

The college years for many are the most exciting times of their lives. You are young, energetic, independent and the whole world is available with countless opportunities. However, there are times when there are missteps and one can find him or herself in criminal trouble.

Whether it be a drug offense, an alcohol offense, a sex crime allegation, or any other allegation of wrongdoing, do not let something that occurred in these exciting times hamper your goals and dreams for the rest of your life.

It is important in these cases to hire an attorney that has experience working with local colleges
and universities and can seek a quick and reasonable resolution to college-aged criminal offenses.

Chuck Felmlee Law has secured not guilty verdicts for students charged with Rape, Object Sexual Penetration, Larceny, Alcohol Possession, Drug Possession, and Drug Distribution offenses. In other cases, the firm has been able to secure agreements where the charges have been reduced to lesser offenses.

We have worked with and represented students at the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, Liberty University, University of Lynchburg, Randolph College, Sweet Briar University, Longwood College, and Central Virginia Community College.

If Arrested, What Do You Do?

Being placed under arrest can be a traumatic experience. The thoughts of going to jail, being ordered to pay heavy fines, potentially losing one’s job, and be taken away from family and friends is enough to make one breakdown.  Instead of panicking, immediately contact our firm and let us do the work to restore your good name and minimize any and all potential court sanctions.

If you are arrested, please do the following:

01

Be Respectful to the Police

When a case goes to trial, judges are always interested in what kind of demeanor a defendant displayed when he/she was interacting with police. Local law enforcement already have a tough enough job. Don't make it harder on them and then make it harder on you. The more respectful you are, the better chance law enforcement may be willing to cut you a break on your charges in the courtroom.
02

Exercise Your Right to Remain Silent

If you are arrested, police will inform you that you have the right to remain silent and that anything you say can be used against you in a court of law. Exercise this right!
03

Exercise Your Right to Have an Attorney Present

If you would like to answer the law enforcement questions, exercise your right to have an attorney present before answering any questions. Having an experienced criminal attorney by your side can put you at ease.
