Central Virginia Criminal Defense

-- Central Virginia's most experienced former prosecutor practicing full-time criminal defense --

If arrested, what do you do?

Being placed under arrest can be a traumatic experience. The thoughts of going to jail, being ordered to pay heavy fines, potentially losing one’s job, and be taken away from family and friends is enough to make one breakdown.  Instead of panicking, immediately contact our firm and let us do the work to restore your good name and minimize any and all potential court sanctions.

If you are arrested, please do the following:

#1) Be respectful to the police. When a case goes to trial, judges are always interested in what kind of demeanor a defendant displayed when he/she was interacting with police. Local law enforcement already have a tough enough job. Don't make it harder on them and then make it harder on you. The more respectful you are, the better chance law enforcement may be willing to cut you a break on your charges in the courtroom.

#2) Exercise your right to remain silent. If you are arrested, police will inform you that you have the right to remain silent and that anything you say can be used against you in a court of law. Exercise this right!

#3) If you would like to answer the law enforcement questions, exercise your right to have an attorney present before answering any questions. Having an experienced criminal attorney by your side can put you at ease.

#4) Upon your arrest, contact Chuck Felmlee Law and let us begin to build your defense.
